  • (a) Subject to paragraphs (a-bis) and\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t(a- ter), if the demand does not comply with the\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\trequirements specified in Rules 53.1,\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t53.2(a)(i) to (iii), 53.2(b), 53.3 to\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t53.8 and 55.1, the\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tInternational Preliminary Examining Authority shall invite the applicant\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tto correct the defects within a time limit which shall be reasonable\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tunder the circumstances. That time limit shall not be less than one\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tmonth from the date of the invitation. It may be extended by the\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tInternational Preliminary Examining Authority at any time before a\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tdecision is taken.\r\n

If the applicant complies with\r\n \t\t\tthe invitation, the Demand is considered as if it had been received on the actual filing\r\n \t\t\tdate, i.e., the original date of receipt, provided that the demand as submitted\r\n \t\t\tpermitted the international application to be identified.
